About

An eccentric man, cartoonist and inventor, Rube Goldberg, designed a series of complex machines that in the end performed a very simple task. Sophisticated structures, composed of thousands of tubes, sleeves, wires, cranks and turbines, may not have saved humanity, but they certainly bore the hallmarks of genius. In this program, teams are tasked with taking on the Rube Goldberg challenge and building together one complex chain reaction that will smoothly transfer energy from the initial to the final sector. Participants must be creative by using various types of materials and forces acting on them. Just before the finale, participants carry out tests to determine whether they have completed their task correctly. Teams must then evaluate and rework their device to ensure it will function properly. At the end, a chain reaction is triggered, which always arouses great emotions and is the culmination of this spectacular undertaking.

Learning Outcomes

Teams work to develop a common vision, developing a shared strategy which they put into place by applying excellent project and resource management skills. Successful teams understand the task, assess available resources, make a plan and then throughout construction, they appraise, and accordingly adapt and modify their initial strategy. In the testing stages teams learn to be persistent in the face of difficulty with an eye for detail in working towards excellence.

The program is the best choice to build commitment by gathering participants around a powerful and common goal - all this to integrate, motivate and share positive energy. It is amazing to observe how much ingenuity lies in the heads of the participants, how extensive the knowledge they share and how energetic the effect of the achieved synergy is. The finale will show that together teams can achieve literally anything. Goldberg Machine develops a true sense of common purpose and a memorable shared experience when their efforts are rewarded with success!

What the team liked most about Chain Reaction was the challenge to connect the tables, which is often an issue during daily work: how to connect with a colleague from another department.
